Purple Hibiscus
To the outside world, fifteen-year-old Kambili's family is perfect, but behind closed doors her wealthy, religious father is a fanatical tyrant. With the threat of a military coup looming, Kambili and her brother are sent to live with their aunt, a college professor, and they soon discover independence and defiance that will be hard to shake once back in their father's shadow.
